Q: How did you first discover Notion, and what drew you to it?

A: I first discovered Notion while I was watching Ali Abdaal’s video on how he built his own second brain. I was searching for the perfect app to take notes.

From that point, my fascination with Notion blossomed.

Q: Can you share the story of your first project or workspace in Notion?

A: My first Workspace was a mess, a bunch of pages and toggles basically, as I used it to store my book highlights and useful websites I found on the internet.

However, when I started my first proper project – a game tracker – I realized the real power of Notion. I previously used a Word document to log everything about my favorite games, but it didn’t give me the functionality to track my progress. With Notion, I transformed the way I managed this passion, and I’m even penning a book about the experience!

Q: What inspired you to become a creator?

A: Creativity has been my companion for as long as I can remember. I found success on YouTube 7 years ago, achieving 30k subscribers and nearly 9 million views. However, my journey towards becoming a Notion creator was primarily fueled by the vibrant community my friends Neves, Dennis, and I had nurtured. The camaraderie in the Notion community is incredible – we genuinely have each other’s backs!

Q: Can you walk us through your process for creating a successful Notion template?

A: My process of creating a successful Notion template is simple. I basically start by doing my research to see if it already exists. and by making a page or a database and going from there.

For the already existing templates: I start by making a page or a database depending on what I’m building, and then I see how I can make it more useful and add more value for less money.

For the non-existing ones, like my crypto resources template. I started from scratch too with a page and went from there. I ended up creating complex relations and connecting various crypto projects and ecosystems together, the power of notion!

That’s my process, I just start building and see on the go.

Q: Other than templates, you’ve been pivotal in creating a community for Notion Creators called Notionnerd. What inspired you to create the Notionerd Community?

A: When I first started on Notion, I found most of the creator community on Twitter. It’s also where I met Neves, aka Notionerd. He invited me to join a Slack community he had formed. Seeing its potential, I was motivated to enhance it. Partnering with Neves, we crafted a thriving community that has been a great learning journey. I ended up learning so much other stuff like managing a community, people, planning, executing, meeting deadlines, and more. Notionerd Community aimed to serve more people at once, a goal that has manifested beautifully!

Q: Can you share any upcoming projects or initiatives for the Notionerd Community?

A: Currently, Notionerd is in hibernation mode, like any other Notion discord community. The original crew has moved on, and I’m now steering the ship solo. Though Discord communities have their limitations, I’m hopeful that with Neves’ return, we might be able to revive the community. In the meantime, Twitter spaces are serving as an excellent avenue!

Q: What does a typical day in your life look like?

A: I rise with the sun, sipping on my morning coffee as I settle in front of my PC and do a bunch of stuff. After lunch and a bit of Netflix to unwind, I return to work. By late afternoon, I switch gears and focus on exercise, followed by some refreshing downtime in my outdoor pool. While this might sound mundane, each day carries its unique flavor. Weekends are dedicated to time with my girlfriend, family, and friends.

Q: What’s your favorite way to relax or destress?

A: Nature is my refuge. I’m blessed to have a forest right in my backyard, perfect for recharging, and I can go wherever I want to go and just relax and collect my energy. Besides this, I also indulge in video games, Netflix, and occasional adventurous trips!

Q: What advice would you give to someone who is just starting to use Notion?

A: My advice is simple – just start! Begin by building something. Don’t get bogged down by overthinking. It’s through the process of building that you truly learn.
