This is the story of how a quest for personal improvement evolved into a mission to empower others, one template at a time.

Join us as we peel back the layers of Nikk’s world, exploring the inspirations, challenges, and triumphs that have shaped his journey.

Q: How did you first discover Notion, and what drew you to it?

A: I was looking for some ways to make money online and stumbled on Easlo’s profile on Twitter. I then started to play around with Notion and understood its insane potential. I loved the fact that we could do so much with Notion that we couldn’t even imagine doing with other tools.

Q: What sparked your interest in creating Notion templates, and how did you get started?

A: I am not a very social person. So, I was always looking for something where I could start something of my own online that I could do with just a laptop and with almost no starting cost. This is what mainly attracted me to creating Notion templates.

Also, I had failed (kind of) in two previous business endeavors, so I had doubts about my ability to start & run a business. And running a business all by myself was a great way to improve my business management skills.

Q: What’s your process for testing and refining a new template before release?

A: I usually spend a lot of time building different versions of a template that I want to create. In each version, I try to improve on the previous version. I do this till I am satisfied with a version. Then, I simply optimize it and add aesthetics to it.

Q: How do you balance simplicity with functionality in your template designs?

A: My current method is the same as the above question, reiterating till I get a template that I am satisfied with. However, balancing simplicity with functionality is still something that I haven’t fully mastered.

Getting in contact with fellow Notion users to test the templates and get their feedback works best in this regard.

Although, I have recently started analyzing best-selling templates of successful Notion creators in order to learn how they balance simplicity and functionality. When I get the answer, I will get back to you 😉

Q: What does a typical day in your life look like?

A: In recent times, Notion has become my primary work. I was working on another business that I had started with a friend. I had to close it and now I am focused on growing my Notion business into a proper revenue-generating business.

Since I am not accustomed to working alone, I usually struggle with inconsistency in my work hours or procrastination (if you want to call it that).

Anyways, an overview of my day is that I usually wake up around 7 am. I write down my tasks for the day, get ready, and then start work on the Notion business. I eat my first meal at around 2 pm. But apart from that, I try to dedicate my whole day to Notion till about 7 pm. Then, I read a bit, I take a walk outdoors and then I work out (someday outdoors and someday at home). I eat my dinner at around 9 pm and I usually try to get in bed by 11 or 12 at night.

Q: The “Ultimate Notion Formula Mastery 2.0” suggests a deep dive into Notion’s capabilities. What advanced tips can users expect to learn?

A: Many Notion formulas behave differently in certain scenarios. I have tried to include such details for every Notion formula in this template via text or practical examples. This provides users with all the info there is to learn about every Notion formula.

Also, the template is built in a manner so that a template can be used as a course or as a cheat sheet. So, users can learn about any specific Notion formula at any time or they can follow along the formula entries as lessons in a course.

Q: What challenges have you faced in the creation and distribution of your Notion templates?

A: In terms of creation, one of the main challenges has been in creating a balance between the simplicity and functionality of a template. Adding more features at times results in over-complication of the template. Keeping it simple raises the question “Have I done enough?”

In terms of distribution, I had an issue with driving constant traffic regularly to the landing pages of my templates. This has been solved to some extent with Notion marketplaces like Official Notion Gallery, NotioStore, etc. Another source of traffic that has solved my concern in this regard is email marketing.

Q: What advice would you give to someone looking to improve their productivity or organizational skills using Notion?

A: Don’t aim for perfection. Everyone’s life is a mess. Just get or build something that works for you and improve it over time.

Q: What’s your favorite way to relax or destress?

A: Going for a long walk or watching sports (preferably football or cricket).

Q: Are there any upcoming projects or templates you’re particularly excited about?

A: I am working on a few templates. The main one is that I am currently planning to launch my own version of Notion Second Brain which I personally use. It is a bit complex though, so I am figuring out how to simplify it for other Notion users.
