Welcome to a glimpse into the dynamic world of Mohu, a spirited Notion creator and visionary entrepreneur. From the bustling city of Vancouver, Mohu, a 19-year-old university student, balances her rigorous academic pursuits with her passion for creating streamlined, aesthetic Notion systems.

Her journey began with the inspiration of YouTube and a simple desire to organize her life better. With a blend of creativity and pragmatism, Mohu has crafted a niche in the bustling world of digital productivity tools, turning everyday planning into an art form.

Q: What inspired you to create Notion templates and launch your shop?

A: I never anticipated starting a shop selling Notion templates, it all kind of happened on a whim. I first came across Notion from a Youtube video on my feed, and fascinated with the possibilities of it, I started building my first Notion setup. After seeing how much it transformed the way I plan and organize my life, I wanted to share the templates I built with others so I launched my template shop.

Q: How do you choose the themes and functionalities for your Notion templates?

A: I usually start my template-building process by asking, “What problem do I want to solve?” Then, I start structuring my templates around that solution. I also take a lot of inspiration from other Notion creators that I admire, including Easlo, The Matcha Vibe, and Grace Digitals Co.

Q: Can you describe the process from concept to completion for one of your favorite Notion templates?

A: I follow the template creation process outlined in Notion’s video on their YouTube channel. I highly recommend every creator check it out, as the Notion team provides lots of great insights and tips on building a quality template. In short, it’s a five-step process that involves empathizing with the audience, defining a problem, ideating solutions, prototyping, and finally testing the product.

Q: What does a typical day in your life look like?

A: A typical weekday involves lots of studying, university classes, and hanging out with friends if time allows. I spend a lot of my free time on my Notion business as well, and I usually end the day with a workout or a run outdoors.

Q: How do you balance aesthetic appeal with practical functionality in your templates?

A: Functionality is key, so I always start a template by focusing on the functional aspect of the template. Once that’s done, aesthetics can be added on later to give the template a curated and cohesive look.

Q: How do you stay motivated and inspired to create new content?

A: Motivation comes and goes, so it’s definitely not something I would rely on for content creation. I prefer to batch content, allowing me to have a “content bank” to choose from when posting, which allows me to have something to share with my audience even if I don’t feel inspired on a particular day. I also love seeing what other Notion creators share with their audience, whether it’s tutorials, tips and tricks, etc. and I take inspiration from them as well.

Q: What advice would you give to someone just starting with Notion?

A: Start with the basics, and build your way up from there. Watching fifty tutorials isn’t going to help if you don’t actually go hands-on and experiment with Notion yourself. Download a few templates, play around with it, and see what you like. Maybe you’ll find that you don’t need a ton of formulas in your Notion, so don’t focus on that. Focus on what works for you.

Q: What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned as a Notion creator?

A: Consistency, consistency, consistency! It applies to everything when it comes to being a business owner, Notion creator, entrepreneur, you name it. Show up every day even when you don’t feel like it, and simply put in the effort. Small things build up over time like compound interest, and it will all pay off one day.

Q: What’s your favorite way to relax or destress?

A: Nature! Spending time outdoors is the best form of therapy for me. Being surrounded by people I love and admire is also an amazing way to destress, as it fuels me with more ambition for the days ahead.

Q: Can you share a goal or dream that you’re currently pursuing?

A: Finishing my accounting degree! I hope to become a chartered professional accountant after graduation. I also plan to launch my own clothing brand sometime in the future – completely unrelated to my current degree but something I’ve always had an interest in. My Notion shop is also something I’d like to continue building – starting a Youtube channel sharing Notion tutorials and tips is another side project I’d love to pursue.
